(Spirit Lake)– Turnout across most counties in Tuesday’s primary was described as brisk. County Auditor Lori Pedersen says Dickinson county was no exception…
“Total votes cast between the precincts and absentee were 3,046 so right now the unofficial results, 21.14 percent voter turnout.”
She explains how that compares with the last primary election…
“A little bit higher, maybe by I’m going to say a thousand or 1,200 votes, probably, and I’m going to attribute that to some contested local races and then the close Governor race as well.”
Pedersen says for the most part things went pretty smooth at the polls…
“We had long lines at almost all the entities all day. We had a little snafu with a scanner in Terril but we got that rectified and voters going, but all in all the Spirit Lake gals said that they literally were busy from the minute they got there until they went home at night, so it was lines for sure in Spirit Lake, I mean all day long.”
Pedersen also expressed her gratitude to those poll workers…
“We have the best of the best. I mean they are true troopers and they follow the code and the rules by book and if something unexpected happens they’re on the phone to us right away and we’re getting it solved. They are our frontline people that we rely on so much, and like you said, shout out to them and we appreciate them more than they will ever know.”
