State Patrol Releases Details Into O’Brien Fatal Collision

(Ashton)– The Iowa State Patrol has released details into a fatal collision that took place Wednesday on Highway 60 south of Ashton in O’Brien county.

Officials say 56-year-old Michael Stubbe of Little Rock was driving a Dodge Caravan and had stopped for a stop sign when he pulled into the path of a semi tractor-trailer driven by 47-year-old Loren Heggemeyer of New Prague, Minnesota.

Stubbe was pronounced dead on the scene.

Three passengers in Stubbe’s vehicle were injured. 26-year-old Melissa Martinez was taken by ambulance to the Sheldon hospital; one-year-old Emily Martinez and three-year-old Marcus Martinez were all taken by ambulance to the Sibley hospital.

All three are from Little Rock.

There was no immediate word on the extent of their injuries.

An estimate of damage to the vehicles wasn’t available.

The mishap took place shortly after 11:30 a.m. Wednesday.
