Spirit Lake High School to host Career Fair November 10

November 01, 2021 Becky Thoreson

A Career Fair is on tap at Spirit Lake High School next week. KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:

Spirit Lake High School will host a Career Fair on November 10.

Angela Olsen with Spirit Lake School Business Partnerships says, it’s a way for students to learn about possible career paths. “It’s a great way for our students to find out what types of careers and opportunities are out in our community. It’s also a great time for our students to find out maybe what they want to do or even don’t want to doin their future. We’ve had it work both ways, you know, where they’ve gone out and had an experience. It wasn’t a bad experience, it was just a learning experience for them that maybe that wasn’t the career that they thought it was, and it saved them thousands of dollars. We’ve just found it’s a great way for our kids to connect to the actual career and have an opportunity to kind of live it and see what it’s all about and learn about it before they take on that in college.”

She adds that there’s still time for businesses to participate. “I think there’s 28 or 29 businesses signed up right now, all for different purposes. Some for hosting a J-Term intern. You don’t have to be willing to take an intern if you’re just looking for career exposure or looking for some summer employees, we’d be happy to have you at the Career Fair, and they can just reach out to me, Angela Olsen, at Spirit Lake High School.”

The Career Fair will be held on November 10th from 9-11 am at the High School Gymnasium.
