Spirit Lake Fire Dept. To Hold Annual Pancake Feed Saturday (April 9th)

April 08, 2022 Steve Schwaller

(Spirit Lake)– The Spirit Lake Fire Department will hold one of its major fundraising events of the year this weekend. Chief Pat Daly tells KUOO news the department’s annual pancake feed is tomorrow (Saturday) at the fire station…

“We’re changing up the hours just a little bit. We’re going to go from 7:00 in the morning to 1:00 in the afternoon. We’re going to see if that don’t work a little better. And for all of the kids, the trucks will be out front again this year, not in somebody else’s parking lot, so the kids can check out the trucks while we’ve got them out there.”

Daly says the proceeds help repair and replace equipment…

“I’ve got so much money put away in my budget, but, you know, that doesn’t cover some of the little stuff. We broke a nozzle the other day and of course my budget’s taken such a hit this year from broken down equipment that, you know, if we can recover some of that ourselves and bring those nozzles back into use, that’s something we want to do.”

Daly adds that just like everyone else, the rising cost of fuel and utilities is impacting the department as well…

“We’ve got everything turned down to 60 degrees here and we had one bill over a thousand dollars.”

A freewill donation will be accepted at Saturday’s pancake feed. Again it will be going on from 7:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Spirit Lake fire station.
