(Spirit Lake)– A two-vehicle collision around Noon Monday at the junction of Highways nine and 71, or the “Wal-Mart corner” in Spirit Lake injured an Iowa State Patrol trooper.
The State Patrol says 82-year-old Roy Boles of Spirit Lake was southbound when he failed to stop at a stop sign. Authorities say Boles pulled into the path of a marked Iowa State Patrol squad car driven by 30-year-old Brian Axford of Spirit Lake who was eastbound on Highway nine.
Axford was taken to Lakes Regional Healthcare where he was treated for a minor injury and released.
No injuries were reported to Boles.
Damage estimates to a 2002 Buick Park Avenue driven by Boles and to a 2008 Ford Crown Victoria squad car driven by Axford weren’t immediately available.
