(Spencer)– Four Spencer teens face arson charges stemming from an alleged incident in the 1000 block of Fourth Avenue East in the area of Jefferson school and a playground.
Spencer police have charged two 14-year-old males, one 14-year-old female and a 15-year-old male with arson in the second degree…a class “C” felony. All four are from Spencer.
They’re accused of using chemicals and plastic bottles to manufacture incendiary devices known as “McGuyver” bombs.
Police say the group allegedly made three such bombs, one of which exploded, one failed to ignite, and the other ignited when it was donated by authorities.
Spencer police were assisted by the Spencer Fire Department and the State Fire Marshal.
All four were referred to the juvenile probation office.
