Spencer Man To Be Inducted Into IHSSA Hall Of Fame

November 22, 2014

(Des Moines)– A Spencer man will be inducted Friday into the Iowa High School Speech Association’s Hall of Fame during a ceremony in Des Moines.

Larry Untiet has taught in Spencer the past 32 years. He’s directed over 81 productions at the high school and community theatre level, has been a long-time member and President of the Spencer Community Theatre; and has served as state officer of the IHSSA…among many other accomplishments.

Under Untiet’s direction, Spencer is the only school in the state to perform at every large group all-state festival since 1975. Spencer has had 150 groups named “Outstanding Performers” at that event, including four critic’s choices.

The Iowa High School Speech Association Hall of Fame was conceived in 1976. It is presented to a distinguished individual of statewide reputation and outstanding achievements.
