(Sioux City)– A mexican man who’s been living in Spencer has pleaded guilty in federal court to a meth charge and for possessing a counterfeit alien registration card.
36-year-old Rolanda Maza-Quiroz entered the plea Monday in U-S District Court in Sioux City.
In a plea agreement, Maza-Quiroz admitted that between July 2006 and February of this year he and others distributed atleast a pound of methamphetamine in the Spencer area.
Sentencing will be scheduled once a pre-sentence report is completed.
Maza-Quiroz remains in the custody of the U-S Marshal.
He faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years imprisonment and a possible maximum sentence of life imprisonment; a four million dollar fine; special assessments and five years of supervised release following any imprisonment.
The case was investigated by the Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement, Spencer Police Department, Clay County Sheriff’s Office, Clay County Attorney’s Office and the Tri-State Drug Task Force based out of Sioux City.
The case was investigated and prosecuted as part of the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force Program of the United States Department of Justice. The investigation and prosecution were aided by resources provided by the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Program established by the Office of National Drug Control Policy.
