(Royal)– An investigation into a stabbing Sunday afternoon in Royal resulted in the arrest of a man for attempted murder.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were called a little after 4:00 pm to 307 Grove Street in Royal where they found 26-year-old Cassanda Bicking who had been stabbed multiple times. She was taken to Spencer Hospital with serious injuries.
The suspect, Matthew Young, had fled the scene. He was located a short time later by Spencer police near his residence in Spencer. Young was taken into custody and was transported to the Clay county jail where he was booked on charges of attempted murder, willful injury and going armed with intent.
Authorities say the incident remains under investigation and that additional charges are expected.
