November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– The driver of a motorcycle that was struck by an SUV in a hit-and-run crash Monday evening in Clay county has died.

The Spencer Police Department says 30-year-old Brian Beck of Spencer died shortly after 4:00 p.m. Wednesday at a Sioux Falls hospital.

A passenger on the motorcycle, 19-year-old Krystal Plagman of Marathon, remains hospitalized in Sioux Falls. There was no new information on her condition.

The SUV was located shortly after the crash at a trailer court just south of Spencer. Upon investigating, authorities arrested 57-year-old James Prather of Spencer who was initially charged with operating while intoxicated and improper passing. Authorities say he may now face additional charges.
