(Spencer)– The Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation will be holding a special event later this month to address shortages in the region’s workforce. Joanne Follon, Corridor Business Retention and Workforce Partnership Coordinator, says the December 16th event, titled “The Iowa Workforce Skirmishes”, will be presented by Ron Cox of the Center for Industrial Research and Services at Iowa State University…
“Ron has been researching this topic for the last couple of years, so he’s going to give some history as far as the trends and such over the years for workforce and he’s going to bring us to the point of where we are right now. He’s going to touch a little bit on the different types of employees that are out there, and there’s a large number of them, and it’s going to give un an opportunity to maybe look at our communities and look at our region and see which areas that we possibly should be focusing in on as far as recruiting those employees to work in our businesses. So rather than taking maybe an individual approach as far as a company is concerned, it may be an opportunity, maybe, to take a community approach and work together on recruitment of employees to our region.”
The December 16th presentation will begin at 10:00 am at the Clay County Regional Events Center in Spencer. Follon says it’s free of charge, but those planning to attend should RSVP by contacting the Corridor at 712-264-3474.
