(Spirit Lake)– A smoke-filled hallway resulted in the evacuation of a Spirit Lake apartment complex for a short time Thursday evening.
Spirit Lake Fire Chief David Kollasch says firefighters were called to Lakes Apartments across from the post office around 8:30 p.m.
Kollasch says an occupant in one of the rooms fell asleep while cooking. He says the person woke up when a smoke alarm started going off.
Kollasch says there was no actual fire and firefighters didn’t have to use any water, so there was no damage. He says they ventilated the building and the residents were allowed back in a short time later.
No injuries were reported.
