SLHS Marching Band Places 1st In Class In Sioux City Competition

(Spirit Lake)– Spirit Lake High School marching band “The Force” placed first in their class size at the Sioux City StarFest Marching Competition this past Saturday (Sept. 27th).

Overall, “The Force” placed seventh out of 16 bands that competed.

Evening point totals placed them ahead of five larger schools.

In addition, “The Force” won the best music execution award for schools under 500 students and they were awarded “The Spirit of StarFest” for their entertaining show and supportive fans.

The theme for this year’s show is “Fright Night”, featuring music of “Danny Elfman”, “The Night Before Christmas” and Michael Jackson’s “Thriller”.

“The Force” will perform in this Friday’s Homecoming Parade as well as during half-time of Friday night’s football game.

They’ll compete Saturday, October 4th at the Sioux Falls Festival of Bands at 12:30 p.m. at the University of Sioux Falls stadium.
