SL Traffic Stop Results In Arrests Of Mn. Men On Drug Charges

(Spirit Lake)– Two Minnesota men are in jail on drug charges following a traffic stop Tuesday in Spirit Lake.

Spirit Lake police say officers pulled over a vehicle for a traffic violation shortly after 3:00 p.m. on Highways Nine and 71 at Chicago Avenue. The driver, 34-year-old Joseph Volberding of Pierz, Minnesota, was found to be driving without a valid license.

A subsequent investigation and search of Volberding resulted in the discovery of materials alleged to be methamphetamine, marijuana and unlawful drug paraphernalia.

Volberding was charged with failure to obey a traffic control device; failure to have a valid driver’s license; no insurance; driving while intoxicated…first offense; possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver methamphetamine; possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver marijuana; possession of a controlled substance methamphetamine…third offense; possession of a controlled substance marijuana…third offense; failure to affix drug tax stamps; prohibited acts and possession of drug paraphernalia.

A passenger in the vehicle, 20-year-old Joshua Stransky of St. Cloud was charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver methamphetamine; possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver marijuana; failure to affix a drug tax stamp; possession of a controlled substance methamphetamine; possession of a controlled substance marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Volberding and Stransky were booked into the Dickinson county jail on bond of 41-thousand dollars each.
