SL School District Awarded Funding For Preschool Program

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– Residents of the Spirit Lake school district with pre-school age children are being reminded of a special grant program that’s available.

The district has been awarded state funding that will allow 27 four-year-old children to attend preschool at no cost for the 2010-2011 school year.

The program is part of a statewide voluntary early childhood grant the Spirit Lake Elementary School was recently awarded.

Under the program, children can attend one of the existing pre-school programs in the area, thanks to a collaborative partnership the Spirit Lake school district has with the providers.

Scholarships will be awarded based on income requirements with an emphasis on staying above existing guidelines currently used by the Head Start and Shared Vision programs.

Parents interested in applying should call 336-2822 extension 4010 or go to www.spirit-lake.k12.ia.us.

Application deadline is July 2nd.
