(Spirit Lake)– A special honor was presented today (Friday) to an employee of the Spirit Lake Post Office.
Jay Anderson was recognized for going above and beyond the call of duty when it comes to customer service.
The award was presented by Doug Morrow, District Manager for the Hawkeye District of the United States Postal Service.
Anderson was honored for paying for some windshield wipers for a humvee. He also packaged them and paid for the shipping.
Anderson said he was waiting on the woman one day who mentioned how her husband, who’s serving in Iraq, needed the new wiper blades for a Humvee he’s driving. Anderson said it’s just his small way of helping out with the situation there.
Morrow says this is only the second award of its kind that’s been given so far by the Postal Service.
Anderson has worked at the Spirit Lake Post Office eight years.
