(Milford)– The Okoboji and Spirit Lake school districts will NOT be sharing football in the upcoming school year.
Okoboji Superintendent Bob Miller made the announcement Wednesday, telling KUOO news there just wasn’t enough time to get all the details worked out in time for the upcoming season. December 1st was the deadline for the districts to report their intentions to the state.
Instead, Miller says the two districts will form a committee of administrators, coaches, parents, players and others from each district to do a comprehensive review of each football program. Miller says a recommendation based on that review will then be taken to the individual school boards in the spring of 2009.
Miller says this will also give them more of a chance to address a number of issues brought out at a recent public meeting the two school boards held on the matter.
