(Spirit Lake)– Spirit Lake letter carriers will conduct their annual food drive this coming Saturday, May 10th.
Residents are asked to place non-perishable items in or near their mailboxes this Saturday.
Ken Henderson of the Spirit Lake letter carriers says they’re hoping to surpass the four thousand pounds they collected last year, siting an increase in demand at food pantries.
All the food that’s collected will be donated to the food pantry at Upper Des Moines Opportunity in Spirit Lake.
Henderson says local girl scouts will be helping them collect the food, which may also be dropped off at the Spirit Lake Post Office.
This marks the 10th year Spirit Lake letter carriers have been involved in the food drive.
