(Spirit Lake)– Very little damage was reported in a chimney fire early Sunday at a residence in the East Okoboji Beach area.
Spirit Lake Fire Chief David Kollasch says firefighters were called to 16619 Shoreline Drive around 1:18 a.m. Upon arriving Kollasch says sparks could be seen coming from the chimney. He says they managed to quickly put it out. The fire was contained to the chimney, with no damage reported to the house.
Kollasch says the fire was discovered by the occupants who heard a rumbling noise shortly after lighting their fireplace.
Firefighters were on the scene about 45 minutes.
