(Spirit Lake)– The city of Spirit Lake has put the finishing touches on its budget for the upcoming fiscal year.
The city council Tuesday set March 13th at 5:30 p.m. as the date and time for a public hearing on it.
City Administrator Mark Stevens told the council it represents an increase in the property tax asking, but he says it’s also a start toward the city eventually getting out of debt.
Stevens says the budget maintains the level of current services and represents a significant reduction in capital outlays. It also allows for a three percent pay raise for city employees.
