(Spirit Lake)– A two-vehicle collision Monday at the intersection of Highway 71 and 30th Street in Spirit Lake sent one person to the hospital.
Spirit Lake police say 31-year-old Shawn Jeffrey of Spirit Lake was attempting to make a left turn onto 30th Street and 47-year-old Christine Hinkeldey of Okoboji was southbound on Highway 71 when the two collided.
Hinkeldey was taken by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare with minor injuries; no injuries were reported to Jeffrey who was cited for failure to yield on making a left turn.
1,500-dollars in damage was estimated to a 2005 Dodge Stratus driven by Jeffrey; a 1999 Toyota Corolla driven by Hinkeldey sustained an estimated four thousand dollars in damage.
Spirit Lake police were assisted by the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office, Spirit Lake First Responders and the Lakes Regional Healthcare Ambulance and paramedics.
The collision took place shortly after 4:00 p.m.
