(Rock Valley)– The Iowa State Patrol has released details into a collision in Sioux county Sunday that claimed the life of a Spencer man.
Authorities say a 2006 straight truck driven by 63-year-old Wilmar Pollema of Hull and a 2002 Chevrolet Impala driven by 81-year-old Donald Rossiter of Spencer collided at the intersection of a county road and highway 18 west of Rock Valley.
Rossiter was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in his vehicle, his 77-year-old wife Elsie, was taken by ambulance to the Rock Valley hospital with undisclosed injuries.
No injuries were reported to Pollema.
The State Patrol says Pollema was turning onto highway 18 when he crossed into the westbound lane, colliding with the vehicle driven by Donald Rossiter.
The mishap took place around 9:00 a.m. Sunday.
