Single Vehicle Crash Sends One Person To The Hospital

November 26, 2021 Steve Schwaller

(Sutherland)– A single vehicle rollover earlier this week in O’Brien county injured a Cleghorn man.

The O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office says 40-year-old Benjamin Kamphoff was driving a 1997 Ford pickup eastbound on a county road when he failed to negotiate a curve. The vehicle left the road and went into the ditch sideways. It then rolled and went airborne, coming to rest on its top.

Authorities believe Kamphoff was ejected through the vehicle’s windshield. They add there was damage to the tops of some trees about 12 feet high. Kamphoff was taken by ambulance to the Cherokee hospital with minor injuries.

He was cited with failure to maintain control and failure to maintain or use safety belts.

The crash took place around 9:30 pm Sunday.
