(Ruthven)– No injuries were reported in a crash Thursday near Ruthven, but the driver had to be extricated from the vehicle.
The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office says 55-year-old Ellen Hotovec of Pocahontas was driving a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado westbound when she lost control of the vehicle. Deputies say Hotovec over-corrected, causing the pickup to slide into the south ditch where it rolled onto the passenger side. Hotovec was trapped in the vehicle and had to be freed by the Ruthven Fire Department. A citation was issued for failure to maintain control.
Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $7,000.
The crash took place shortly after 6:00 am.
