(Spencer)– Authorities say a single vehicle crash this past weekend in Clay county that resulted in minor injuries to two people remains under investigation.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were called to the 4200 mile of 270th Avenue, or “Dead Horse Canyon”, around 4:20 pm Sunday. Authorities say 18-year-old Kaden Knephoff of Gillett Grove lost control of a 1997 Chevrolet Silverado which went into the east ditch and rolled over a culvert, coming to rest on its top.
Knephoff and a passenger were able to get out of the vehicle through a broken window. Both sustained minor injuries but declined immediate treatment. The vehicle was totaled.
Knephoff was cited for failure to maintain control and failure to wear a safety belt.
The Iowa Department of Natural Resources assisted on the scene.
