Single Vehicle Crash Results In Drug Charges

March 24, 2022 Steve Schwaller

(Orange City)– A single vehicle crash Tuesday evening on Highway 60 in Sioux county resulted in the arrest of a southwest Minnesota man on drug charges. Authorities say 61-year-old Richard Friessen of Springfield, Minnesota, was driving a 2018 Toyota Sienna minivan northbound when the vehicle went into a ditch, struck a field driveway embankment and rolled.

Friessen was taken to the Orange City Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Upon further investigation it was determined Friessen was allegedly under the influence of drugs and was taken to the Sioux county jail where he dropped a small bag of what was believed to be methamphetamine.

Friessen was charged with second offense operation of a motor vehicle while intoxicated, third offense possession of a controlled substance, and bringing a controlled substance into a correctional facility.
