(Sioux City)– A Sibley man has pleaded guilty in federal court to a firearms charge.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Iowa says 34-year-old Levi Dimmitt pleaded guilty to a charge of being a prohibited person in possession of multiple firearms.
Federal prosecutors say Dimmitt admitted at a plea hearing to possessing the guns while using marijuana and methamphetamine. A search warrant executed on April 24th of this year at Dimmitt’s residence resulted in authorities finding drug paraphernalia, a drug ledger, marijuana, methamphetamine and four guns.
Sentencing will be held upon completion of a presentence report. Dimmitt meanwhile remains in the custody of federal officials.
The case was investigated by the Sibley Police Department, Osceola County Sheriff’s Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
