(Ruthven)– Efforts to clean up a stretch of a local river are getting a financial shot in-the-arm.
The Iowa Department of Natural Resources has awarded a mini-grant to clean up the west fork of the Des Moines River in the Ruthven area. The project is scheduled to begin in April and continue until mid-August.
Grants were awarded to 18 individuals and organizations through the DNR’s REAP program.
The clean-up projects are being done in conjunction with the statewide IOWATER initiative…a DNR water quality monitoring program.
