Rezoning Hearing Continued A Second Time

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– A public hearing on a request to rezone some land near the Dickinson county fairgrounds just outside of Spirit Lake’s city limits was continued a second time at today’s (Tuesday’s) Dickinson county board of supervisors meeting.

Landowners seeking the rezoning made the request upon learning that only three of the five supervisors were present for today’s (Tuesday’s) meeting.

Any re-zoning would have required a three-to-nothing vote.

The city of Spirit Lake has expressed opposition to re-zoning that area, which it wants to annex in the future. It wants the zoning to stay light industrial, instead of being changed to residential. City officials say the light industrial classification fits its long-term plans for that area.
