Recall Issued On Beef Possibly Tainted With E-Coli

November 22, 2014

(Minneapolis, Mn.)– The U-S-D-A says a Minnesota meat company linked to an E-Coli outbreak in the twin cities area is recalling 117,500 pounds of beef shipped to eight states, including Iowa and Minnesota.

The U-S-D-A says P-M Beef of Windom is voluntarily recalling the beef trim products that was sent to distributors and retailers in Arizona, Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, Virginia and Wisconsin.

The beef trim was produced March 27th and turned into ground beef sold under many different retail brand names. In Minnesota, officials have said it was ground at the stores where it was sold.

Health officials have said it appears that tainted ground beef from Lunds or Byerly’s stores sickened seven people. Three had to be hospitalized before they recovered.

Symptoms of E-Coli include stomach cramps that may be severe and diarrhea that may turn bloody within one to three days. E-Coli can sometimes lead to complications including kidney failure.
