(Spencer)– A pursuit Sunday in Clay county ended with the suspect crashing a vehicle he was driving into a building, sending him to the hospital, then to jail.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says it started shortly after 2:30 a.m. when a deputy attempted to make a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 4400 block of 170th Avenue. The driver didn’t stop, but instead took off at a high rate of speed into Rossie, losing control of the vehicle and crashing into the Rossie Feed and Grain building.
The driver was identified as 28-year-old Jeremy Starkson of Rossie.
Starkson was taken to the Spencer hospital where he was treated for minor injuries and released.
Starkson was then taken into custody and was booked into the Clay county jail on charges of felony eluding, operating while intoxicated…first offense; speeding and no insurance.
Bond was set at five thousand dollars.
Minor damage was reported to the building.
A 1976 Chevrolet truck Starkson was driving was totaled.
