Public Works, Waste Water Officials Remind Residents NOT To Flush Wipes

February 09, 2022 Steve Schwaller

(Spencer)– Area cities and wastewater treatment plant operators are once again reminding residents not to flush ANY type of wipes down the toilet. Mark White, Public Works Director for the city of Spencer, says they’ve been seeing an increase in sewer clogs recently being caused by the wipes…

“We had another call over the weekend so that’s three probably within probably a week and-a-half or so, so those products, although they may say flushable, they are certainly not, do not degrade in the line and cause sewer line issues.”

Officials say the clogs caused by the wipes could even lead to backups of sewage that could affect not only you, but your neighbors as well.
