(Spirit Lake)– A proposal to restore a wetland in section four of Lakeville Township drew some controversy at today’s (Tues.) Dickinson county board of supervisors meeting.
A landowner, in conjunction with the Natural Resources Conservation Service, requested permission to manipulate some county tile in that area to restore a wetland on about 110 acres of land.
The proposal didn’t sit well with a neighboring landowner concerned it would back water up onto his land.
Following an extensive discussion, the supervisors voted four-to-one in favor of allowing the project to proceed. Supervisor Wayne Northey voted against the motion, siting problems with similar wetland restoration projects in other areas of the county.
The 61-thousand dollar project will be financed through federal dollars.
