A construction mishap this morning caused 174 Alliant Energy customers to lose power for nearly half an hour today in Spirit Lake. Alliant reports that at 9:57 this morning a construction crew was tearing down a building near the Lakeview Cemetery when part of a tree was knocked into a power line. Customers along highway 71 near 23rd and 18th streets, along with customers on Circle Drive were effected. This included some of Alliant’s larger customers, such as Hy-Vee and the Senior Center. Crews were immediately dispatched, cleared the line, and restored power by 10:25.
