Plenty Of Road Work Could Be Going On In Estherville In Summer Of 2023

March 08, 2022 Steve Schwaller

(Estherville)– Some major road work is scheduled to take place next year in Estherville. City Administrator Penny Clayton told the city council Monday evening she’s been notified by the Iowa Department of Transportation that they plan to do some re-surfacing work on Highway nine from the bridge and up half-mile hill to the city’s western city limits. Clayton says that’s in addition to plans to re-surface Highway 4 both north and south of Highway 9. She added D.O.T representatives will be present at an upcoming council meeting to further discuss the work, tentatively scheduled for the summer of 2023…

“It will make traveling in and around Estherville kind of complicated, depending on how they decide to stage it, and I think that’s one of the things they’ll talk to us about is staging different parts of that work.”

Clayton says she’s also in talks with the D.O.T about the possibility of the city doing some infrastructure work as part of the projects…

“So they’re not giving us a bunch of time, I don’t think, to be able to come in and do some additional work. So that’s another thing I’ve been visiting with them about and we’ll have to figure out what they’re going to let us do.”
