(Okoboji)– The Pearson Lakes Art Center will share in 129,110-dollars in the latest round of grants awarded by Humanities Iowa.
Lissa Potter, Director of Visual Arts at the Pearson Lakes Art Center, says they were awarded eight thousand dollars to support a traveling exhibit of photographs by David Thoreson of Okoboji. The exhibit, owned by the Pearson Lakes Art Center, is traveling throughout Iowa the next couple of years.
Potter says the exhibit, which has been on display at the Pearson Lakes Art Center in the past, will likely be back here sometime in the future. She says it’s a work in progress and is constantly changing.
The exhibit, titled “20 Years, 20 Stories”, includes 50 images taken over 20 years in the Antarctic, the Arctic, Canada, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Greenland, India, New Zealand and the United States.
It includes journal entries, text panels, and audio guides run on i-pods with supplemental stories addressing many environmental, economic and human rights issues from the perspective of the artist.
