(Spirit Lake)– More than one thousand people attended tonight’s (Thurs.) Democratic caucuses at the Expo Building in Spirit Lake.
1,076 people filed into the facility. Spokesman Denny Perry says organizers had to scramble to set up more chairs. But he says things went very smoothly. Perry thanked everyone who helped out. He says the crowd started coming in already at 5:30.
Perry says this year’s attendance was more than double that of 2004.
Dickinson county had 80 delegates. 31 of those went for Barack Obama; 25 for John Edwards; 23 for Hillary Clinton and one for Bill Richardson.
Perry described the event as “grassroots involvement at its best…right here in Dickinson county”.
