(Sibley)– The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office has released details into a two-vehicle collisoin last Thursday that sent two people to the hospital.
Authorities say 19-year-old Ricky Jeppesen of Bigelow, Minnesota was driving a 1991 Dodge pickup southbound on County Road L40 and had stopped for a stop sign at the intersection with Highway 9. Authorities say Jeppesen then pulled into the path of a 2002 Chevrolet Malibu being driven eastbound on Highway nine by 48-year-old Helen Elgersma of Sanborn.
The impact caused the vehicle driven by Elgersma to go into the south ditch.
Elgersma sustained incapacitating injuries and was taken by ambulance to Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley. Possible injuries were reported to Jeppesen who was taken to the hospital by a private party.
Seven thousand dollars in damage was estimated to the vehicle driven by Jeppesen, who was cited for unsafe starting of a stopped vehicle.
Elgersma’s vehicle sustained an estimated nine thousand dollars in damage.
The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by the Sibley Fire and Rescue and the Sibley ambulance.
