(Sibley)– The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office has released details into a crash that took place last Thursday near Ashton that injured two people.
Authorities say 48-year-old Ronald Thoe of Ashton was westbound on 230th Street at the intersection with Oriole Avenue while 17-year-old Devan Schneidermann of Sibley was southbound on Oriole Avenue when the two collided.
A 1997 Chevrolet pickup Thole was driving rolled three times before coming to rest in a field, ejecting Thole.
A 1990 Chevrolet Lumina driven by Schneidermann came to rest in the same field where the engine caught on fire.
Thole was taken to the Osceola Community Hospital with incapacitating injuries and was life-flighted to Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls. Schneidermann was taken to the Osceola Community Hospital with non-incapacitating injuries.
Both vehicles were totaled.
A utility pole and some wires owned by Osceola County REC sustained an estimated 500-dollars in damage.
Schneidermann was cited for driving while suspended.
The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by Ashton Fire and Rescue, Ashton ambulance, Sibley ambulance and the Iowa State Patrol.
