Osceola Co. Crash Injures Five Lakes Area Teens

(Sibley)– A single-vehicle crash shortly after 6:00 p.m. Friday in Osceola county injured five lakes area teens.

The Sheriff’s Office says 16-year-old Morgan Syverson of Milford failed to negotiate a curve while driving a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix southbound on a county road about a mile east of Ashton. The vehicle slid off the road into the south ditch where it rolled, coming to rest on its top.

Syverson was taken to the Osceola County Hospital in Sibley with unknown injuries.

Several passengers in the vehicle were also injured and were transported to the Osceola County Hospital. They include 17-year-old Breanna Rogne of Spirit Lake; 15-year-old Brady Reinig of Milford and 14-year-old Kelly Kaufman of Milford.

16-year-old Taylor Boeckholt of Milford was taken to the Sheldon hospital.

The extent of their injuries and conditions weren’t immediately available.

The vehicle Syverson was driving was totaled.

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by the Ashton Fire and Rescue, the Ashton ambulance, Sibley ambulance, Melvin ambulance and the Iowa State Patrol.

Authorities say the teens were on their way to a basketball game.
