April 07, 2022 Steve Schwaller

(Terril)– One person had to be extricated from a vehicle following a collision Wednesday near Terril.

The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office says 47-year-old Heath Dodge of Terril was driving a Case tractor pulling a feed trailer eastbound on 240th Street. Deputies say Dodge was turning onto 290th Avenue when he was struck by an eastbound 2020 Chevrolet 5500 truck driven by 56-year-old Kirk Ferchert of Howard, Ohio. Authorities say Ferchert was attempting to pass the tractor when the collision took place.

A passenger in Ferchert’s vehicle, Mechele Ferchert, had to be extricated from the wreckage. She was taken by ambulance to Avera Holy Family Hospital in Estherville with non-incapacitating injuries. Both drivers complained of possible injuries. They were checked over on the scene by paramedics and were released.

The crash took place around 11:20 am. Authorities say it remains under investigation.

Milford police, the Terril and Spirit Lake ambulances, Terril Fire Department and Lakes Area Extrication Unit assisted on the scene.
