(Milford)– Meeting in special session this (Wednesday) morning, the Okoboji School Board approved plans for an 8,800 square foot addition onto the Elementary building in Milford.
Superintendent Bob Miller tells KUOO news the project has an estimated cost of two and-a-half million dollars and will be funded through the SILO tax.
Miller says the two-story addition will house 10 additional classrooms and will be built onto the south side of the existing building.
He says they hope to have a bidletting on the project in late May or early June. Construction would start soon after that with completion by the fourth quarter of the upcoming school year.
Miller says growth in enrollment has resulted in a space crunch at the elementary. He says the project is part of the long-term facilities plan the Okoboji School Board recommended last fall.
