Okoboji Residents To See Another Hike In Water Rates

November 22, 2014

(Okoboji)– Okoboji residents will soon be seeing another hike in water rates effective July 1st.

The city council Tuesday voted to increase the base rate from 24 dollars a quarter currently for a minimum of 10-thousand gallons used to 44-dollars.

City Administrator Dennis Daly says the latest increase is needed to help pay for a water main project on the city’s north side.

Even with the new increase, Daly says Okoboji is still in line with what other cities in the lakes corridor are charging for water.

He doesn’t see any other increases in the immediate future, but he can’t rule out the possibility in the longer term, saying it will depend on how bids for the water main project come in.

A bidletting on the project is set for May 22nd.
