Okoboji Council Appoints New Member; Approves Easements For Water Main Project

November 22, 2014

(Okoboji)– The Okoboji city council has a new member.

The council Tuesday evening voted unanimously to appoint Jim Hentges to fill the vacancy created with the recent resignation of Joe Gamble, who moved out of the community.

In other business, the council approved temporary and permanent easements with Rosemary and Bill Sackett for the city’s upcoming water main project. A portion of the project will involve some farm land own they own. The easements were just recently negotiated.

The council also Tuesday accepted the contract for the project from Minger Construction, which submitted the low bid at the council’s last meeting of 827,550-dollars…well under the engineer’s estimate of nearly 1.3 million dollars.

And on another parking issue, the council heard concern from Police Chief Dave Jacobson about parking on Julia Street and portions of Lakeshore Drive. The council directed Jacobson and City Administrator Dennis Daly to look at those areas and come back with a recommendation at their August meeting.
