(Primghar)– A Peterson man escaped injury Monday when the semi tractor-trailer he was driving overturned in O’Brien county.
The Iowa State Patrol says 47-year-old Steven Biedenfeld was westbound on County Road B-40 when he drove onto the soft shoulder. The tractor/trailer then overturned on its right side, winding up on the travelled portion of the roadway.
The trailer was loaded with 42 head of cattle. 10 head were killed. The others had to be rounded up and loaded onto another trailer.
Damage to the tractor/trailer, owned by Hubert Trucking of Royal, was estimated at 45-thousand dollars.
Biedenfeld was cited for failure to maintain control.
The mishap took place around 8:30 a.m. Monday.
