O’Brien Co. Farming Accident Claims A Life

(Sheldon)—A farming accident in O’Brien county has claimed a life.

The O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office says it received a 911 call shortly after 11:00 a.m. Wednesday from a mail carrier near Archer regarding a tractor accident.

Authorities say 81-year-old John Vanden Hull of Archer was pulling a rotary hoe in reverse when the tractor rolled, pinning him underneath.

Rescue crews extricated Vanden Hull, who was taken to the Sheldon hospital by the Primghar ambulance. He was then transferred to Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls where he later died of his injuries.

The O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by the Archer Fire and Rescue, Archer ambulance, Primghar Fire and Rescue and the Primghar ambulance.
