(Primghar)– A two-vehicle collision Thursday at the intersection of Highways 10 and 143 in O’Brien county sent two people to the hospital.
The O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office says 20-year-old Beau Roberts of Primghar was westbound on Highway 10 when he apparently fell asleep at the wheel. The vehicle crossed the center line and collided nearly head-on with an eastbound vehicle driven by 19-year-old Ryan Wetrich of Calumet.
Both Roberts and Wetrich were taken by ambulance to the Orange City hospital. Authorities say Roberts was treated for non-incapacitating injuries while Wetrich was treated for incapacitating injuries.
1,500-dollars in damage was estimated to a 1998 Ford pickup driven by Roberts; a 1995 Ford Taurus driven by Wetrich sustained an estimated five thousand dollars in damage.
Roberts was cited for failure to yield half of the roadway when meeting a vehicle.
The collision took place around 6:30 a.m. Thursday.
