(Spirit Lake)– Northwest Iowa ag producers are reminded of a series of private pesticide training certification sessions coming up in the region. Gentry Sorenson, Northwest Iowa Field Agronomist with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach says the first in the series will be held later this week…
“On January 19th will be the first one coming up in Palo Alto county and that’s the VFW in Emmetsburg. We have on in Dickinson county coming up on January 26th at 9:30 and 1:30 and that’s at the Dickinson County Expo Building at the fairgrounds; and another nearby one is the following day on January 27th in Emmet county at the Iowa Lakes auditorium in Estherville. So the best way to get in touch with those individuals is call the county extension office and sign up because pre-registration is requested for these events.”
Sorenson is also reminding producers of a series of ag-related informational programs available online. He says there are currently 20 of the pre-recorded programs available through their “Crops TV” series…
“They’re presented by ISU faculty, staff, and also some guest presenters that Iowa State has invited in. There’s no software or anything required, it’s just a standard web browser. They have topics based on crop management, pest management, which usually is insects and weeds, nutrient management along with soil and water management as well. So there’s just a small fee for this, it’s $100 for 30 hours of viewing and learning.”
You can find out how to sign up for “Crops TV” by typing Crops TV Iowa State into a search engine.
