Regional Musicians will perform this evening in Estherville, KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:
The Northwest Iowa Concert and Jazz Bands will present their holiday program at the Estherville VFW Monday evening.
Concert Band Director Rich Nicklay says, the groups are comprised of musicians from around the region. “We have members from at least 10 different communities from around the Estherville area, and we have some members that drive up from the Humboldt area, an hour and a half drive, to come to rehearsals and be a part of the concert. The Concert Band has about 22 members in it and then there’s also the Jazz Band, which is about 12 members. “
He adds that this is the first concert the bands have had in a couple of years. “We’re going to have some light, fun music. Good audience music, good toe-tapping music, tunes they can sing along with. This is the first concert we have done in the public in a formal setting since November of 2019.”
The VFW will be offering a meal starting at 6, with the concert at 7:30 Monday night.
