Northern Iowa Man Sentenced For Robbing Gas Station With A Sword

September 29, 2021 Steve Schwaller

(Algona)– A northern Iowa man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for robbing a gas station with a sword.

40-year-old Nicholas Rosenstiel of Ventura pleaded guilty to second-degree robbery in Kossuth county.

Deputies say Rosenstiel went into a gas station in Wesley in December of 2019 wearing a mask and armed with a sword. He demanded money from the cashier and made off with about 200 dollars.

Rosenstiel was originally charged with first-degree robbery before accepting a plea deal. He’ll receive credit for time already served.
